In Birchrunville, festivities a washout At first, the Fourth of July parade in Birchrunville - begun by a resident enlisting a few grammar school boys on bicycles - was only a parade. In the last few years, residents say, it became a parade with water fights. Then, it became water fights with a parade. And so in its 30th year last year, the water fights drenched the parade, drowned the parade, doomed the parade. For the first time since 1976, Birchrunville this year will have no parade. |
